Activision’s Call of Duty franchise started in 2003 and today is widely known as the best-selling first-person shooter game in the world. Over the years Activision’s marketing has produced lots of amazing and engaging events all over the world.
In 2018 Activision approached Hildreth Media Group with the task of live streaming their keynote event for the latest Call of Duty title, Black Ops 4. Activision wanted to showcase this new game to their global fans. They needed a trusted partner that could deliver not just one but 33 unique and secure 1080 60p signals to social and enterprise networks all over the world. These unique signals included: 10 foreign languages, different content to different enterprise in game networks, and different bitrate requirements for international social platforms.
The event was held on May 17, 2018 at the Jet Center hangers, Hawthorn airport. It was a two-day set up with two days of rehearsals. Hildreth Media brought in a dedicated 200mbps network connection through microwave and a 100mpbs IP satellite connection for backup encoders. We also leveraged restream.io to assist in helping us distribute “same signals” to multiple social networks around the world. Hildreth Media brought in 10 isolation booths for live on-site translation and managed/engineered all pre/post shows for 5 languages.
